Pitchup.com has won the Travel Journalists’ Award for Best UK Travel Website of the Year at the British Travel Press Awards.
More than 250 travel writers, journalists, broadcasters, photographers and editors attended an award ceremony last night at the spectacular Royal Institute of British Architects in London.
Judith Chalmers, former presenter of Wish You Were Here, added a touch of stardom to the occasion, picking up an award for her outstanding contribution to the travel industry.
Pitchup.com saw off competition from five other finalists, including MSN Travel, to be selected as winner by leading travel journalists.
Judges for the award included Steve Keenan, Online Travel Editor of The Sunday Times, and Francesca Kellett, Digital Travel Editor of The Telegraph, commenting on the site’s ease of use and rapid growth over the last two years.
Dan Yates, Managing Director of Pitchup.com, said: “It’s great to receive this recognition from leading travel journalists and a huge credit to the team. Media coverage of caravan parks and campsites in the UK has grown tremendously in the last few years and we’re looking forward to continuing to promote the wonderful holidays available in our sector.”
This is the fifth national award won by Pitchup.com over the last year, following earlier wins for the Red Bull Future 50, Best Travel Directory, Best Travel Information Site and Best Domestic Strategic PR campaign.
