Written by Jose Silva, The Silva Mind Control Method is based on techniques used in his famous 4-day Mind Control training course and teaches participants to use their minds at a deeper level, even during sleep. Since the book was first published in 1977, millions of people including celebrities have graduated from Mind Control training. The book shows how people can learn to overcome tension, stress, bad habits, insecurities and even illnesses by using the techniques of Mind Control. It also explores creative visualisation and making things happen for you.
At first, I was sceptical about how much I would learn from the book, however I was pleasantly surprised and I found it hugely beneficial, both for my work and personal life. Mindfulness and meditation have become such an important part of our lives, so I was able to find ways of making it work for me. We all lead such hectic and busy lifestyles that it is important to take time away from thinking about work or even personal issues. The most useful chapters in the book include How to Meditate, Improving Memory and the Power of Imagination. I have used some of the techniques in my own meditation and mindfulness, such as counting backwards from 100 to get used to meditation and the power of words. I took away plenty of key learnings and have summarised the most powerful ones below:
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to explore meditation and mindfulness, as there are some fantastic exercises to try. It may be that not everything in the book is relevant, but it’s certainly an eye-opener in terms of what people have tried and hugely benefitted from.
